    Dealing With The Pain

At some point in our lives there is always going to be pain and injury that will happen to us, I will always remember climbing up the drainpipe when I was a kid I was looking for bird eggs and I got up to the top and fainted and fell 30 feet to the bottom which was concrete. I was lucky I only got a few bruises but I couldn’t walk for three weeks and I was bandaged up, I landed on my feet so they where pretty swollen. I couldn’t remember how it happened all I knew that I was rushed to hospital where they examined me I was in so much pain at the time.

They put a bandage on my ribs for six weeks and had to rest. I was given pain tablets and had to stay at home and not go to school. This was good at first as it relieved my pain and done a good job of it. I continued to take the pills for the rest of the time I was off school and I was getting used to them after six weeks. I got so used to the pills that I kept taking them after the six weeks was over they made me feel so good. I guess I didn’t know it at the time but I was addicted to the pills and had to get more off the doctor in those days they used to hand them out like candy.

As each day went by I could feel myself wanting more medication as the pills wore off, I was back at school at this stage and didn’t know who to turn to for help because I didn’t want to let everyone know that I was addicted to these pills. My parents where very stricken so I couldn’t talk with them, luckily I had a friend who had an understanding mother, she went to see my parents and I was back in the doctors. They confirmed that I was addicted to these drugs and the doctor gave me some other medicine to whine me off the drug that I was taken and eventually I was able to continue school without the pills.

A lesson was learned this when I was 13 years of age it all happened when I was so young, now I think of the kids who take stronger pills than I was taken these days and hide the truth behind what is going on. I think there should be more testing in the schools for drugs blood tests this would solve a lot of problems in today’s society and prevent children from being addicts like I was.

There’s a name for what ails you, and it’s called “luxury guilt.” Even if you can afford to travel, you reason, isn’t it wrong to indulge when times are so tough? Well, if you haven’t been swayed by the open-your-wallet, shorten-the-recession argument, how about this one: You may be missing a rare chance to visit some of the finest hotels on the planet at prices you aren’t likely to see over the next decade. The deals now are better than in the aftermath of the Asian economic crisis, 9/11, or SARS, says Jan Freitag, vice president of Smith Travel Research, making travel to just about any place in the world from 30% to 50% more affordable than last year. One note: If you don’t find these rates on the hotel website, call to book.
